Uniform/Dress Code

SCHOOL UNIFORMS: Our School Culture

Uniform/Dress Code

The implementation of the school uniform policy adopted by the Board of Education 5 years ago remains in effect for students in the elementary grades. All parents are encouraged to send their children to school in uniforms.

Ivey continues to strive to be a 100 percent Uniform School. We believe that wearing school uniforms add to the culture of our school. The students dress in Navy or White Tops and Blue or Khaki Bottoms. (No denim jeans except on Friday for Spirit Days.)

Many parents and students have expressed their appreciation for the uniform/ dress code that adds a sense of "Ivey League” to Ivey Ranch. Students are encouraged to participate in our school spirit days which allow the students to wear their Ivey Ranch Tee Shirts with denim jeans every Friday to promote School Spirit. Winning classes are recognized by our PTO at our monthly Flag Assembly.  Also the fourth Wednesday of each month students  participate in the monthly “Spirit Days” e.g Hawaiian Dress, Twin Day, etc. sponsored by our K-Kids which is another opportunity for students have a relaxed uniform day.

We believe uniforms send a message to all students that school is a special place where schoolwork is the focus. Join us in maintaining a standard of excellence as the students continue to dress for success in their School Uniforms. Parents who have chosen to opt. their children out of uniform must do the following:

  1. Schedule a conference to meet with the principal within 30 days of enrollment.
  2. Complete an Application for Exemption from the Uniform Policy. This can be obtained from the school office and must be on file.

Students who are not in uniform are required to follow the Oceanside Unified School District Dress Code, which mandates the following:

  • Clothing must be clean and in good repair
  • Clothing must be the proper size and fit
  • Shirts must be tucked in
  • Shoes with closed toes and closed heels must be worn
  • Clothing with undesirable insignia may not be worn

Students whose parents have not completed the steps required for exemption within 30 days of enrollment, and who refuse to comply with this policy, will be subject to discipline for defiance of school authority.

If the purchase of uniforms presents a financial burden for your family, applications for assistance are available in the school office.

Thank you for your continued support of our effort to have students "Dress for Success" and come to school focused on improving their academic skills.
